The mighty Missouri River begins its 2700 mile journey to the midwest at Headwaters State Park near Three Forks in southcentral Montana. Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery used the Missouri to traverse much of Montana, including the river's scenic White Cliffs area near the center of the state which is preserved today as a Wild and Scenic Area River Area.
